The Goshen County Library and Goshen County Historical Society are excited to host renowned historian Kylie Louise McCormick on November 14, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Join us for an enlightening presentation as McCormick dives into the formation of the Wyoming/Nebraska border and Torrington’s pivotal role in its history. Attendees will experience a compelling journey through the region’s unique past.

McCormick’s talk will bring to life stories of the Oregon Trail pioneers, the challenges of cross-country state border formation, and the collaborative effort in 1906 to officially mark these historic trails, inspired by Ezra Meeker’s journey. She’ll share the fun—and sometimes frustrating—tale of how Wyoming and Nebraska came together to honor this landmark trail along their shared border.

Based in Casper, McCormick is a celebrated historian and speaker, known for her dynamic presentations through her business, KLM Wyoming Historian. She has brought to light crucial topics in Wyoming history, from women’s suffrage to historic trail preservation and state symbols, and recently took on the role of Project Director for WyoHistory.org. Her work has spanned public exhibits, influential articles, and legislative advocacy to protect historic state flags. McCormick holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees, summa cum laude, from Hollins University and a Master’s degree in history from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about our region’s heritage from one of Wyoming’s leading historians!
