Library Clerk-Permanent Part-Time

The Goshen County Library is seeking an outgoing, customer service oriented person to fill the position of part-time Library Clerk. This is a year-round, part-time position and includes Saturday hours. 

The clerk:
 Greets and directs library patrons
 Charges and discharges library materials 
 Performs opening and closing procedures 
 Assists the public in selecting and locating library materials
 Operates the circulation desk
 Helps with children’s activities
 Assist patrons with internet and electronic resources
 Carries and shelves books 
 Assists patrons using the copy machine
 Collects fines and fees 
 Notifies patrons that the library is holding a book for them
 Enters new patron information into computer 
 Places jacket covers on new books 
 Sits and stands for extended periods of time assisting patrons 
 Retrieves materials and answers desk phone. 
 Performs other related duties as assigned. 
 Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.

High School Diploma or GED required
Proficient computer skills
Ability to communicate effectively- orally and in writing
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with others

Story times- Tuesday mornings 10:15-10:45

Each Tuesday morning a staff member will present a variety of stories and crafts for preschoolers. This story time is geared towards 3-5 year olds capable of participating independently of their adult caregivers. Caregivers are welcome to join in until the child is comfortable.

 Charcoal and Quill Guild- Thursdays 4-5pm

A group for creative teens to share their works, get support, and discuss what they do. Drawing, painting, writing poetry and short stories, even video editing! We drink tea and discuss our creative works. Sharing is not mandatory but encouraged.

Free Build Fridays- Fridays 2-4pm

Free build Fridays: Encouraging kids to be creative and thoughtful with tinkertoys, Legos, circuit boards and other assorted fun stuff.

This group meets in the Wyoming Room.
